Mexico City, August 2021.- OlaClick, just announced a strategic USD $2M investment round to boost the digital transformation of the hospitality industry in LATAM co-lead by Angel Ventures, YCombinator, Graph Ventures, AC Ventures, SeedStars, MSA Capital, among other important funds and several angel investors.

OlaClick (https://www.olaclick.com/) is a web-based digital menu solution that helps businesses receive simplified online orders through WhatsApp. We offer a commission-free platform for small and medium businesses eager to increase their online orders and reach more customers.

OlaClick was born from an idea from a group of European friends who have been in Latin America for more than 10 years: Carol Riboud, founder of the Busportal Travel Marketplace in Peru and Colombia, later sold to RedBus (Part of Naspers Group), along with José Rico, Morgan Zysman and Ulysse Litchlé.

When the COVID-19 crisis began, restaurants were forced to change the way they served customers. Some of their friends who own this type of business gave them the clue of the need and innovated by taking the omnipresence of WhatsApp in Latin America, they ended up creating an MVP in a few days.

After offering the service to several clients they realized that there was a remarkable demand for the solution.

Before the appearance of Covid-19, we had businesses that operated in a traditional way, with a good product offered in a good location, through direct sales to their customers. However, this pandemic has accelerated the change in the way of doing business, in turn caused by a change in consumer habits and behaviors, generating a ‘new normal’ where the digital environment takes a leading role in our lives.

This new digital environment requires sales platforms that allow businesses to reach their end customers directly and quickly. However, the options they had were certain platforms that, although they gave them good exposure, in many cases are complex or involve a cost that they cannot afford. As an alternative to this situation, OlaClick was born.

“Olaclick is infront of a massive opportunity, and we are convinced that Carol, Jose, Morgan and Ulysse have what it takes to build the next Unicorn. A great lineup of backers and strong early traction makes us excited for what is to come and thrilled to join the ride with old and new friends.” said Hernán Fernández, Managing Partner at Angel Ventures.

This allowed businesses to develop commercial strategies for their own digital sales channel, maintaining their margins and ensuring their viability over time.

“Mexico is one of our two strategic markets and Angel Ventures is one of the most important funds in the country, which is why we consider them a strategic partner,” said Carol Riboud, Co-Founder at OlaClick.
